Go After Jesus
In Go After Jesus, Dr. Timothy Brown talks about six core identities that shape what it really means to follow Christ—not just what we believe, but how we live. Following Jesus isn’t about behavior modification; it’s about identity transformation. When you know who you are in Christ, your life begins to reflect it.

1.
First, The Seeker. The Seeker says, “I want to discover the awe-inspiring truth of who Jesus really is.” This is the starting point of faith—a holy curiosity that refuses to settle for shallow answers. Seekers are hungry for truth, willing to ask hard questions, and open to encountering Jesus personally.
2.
Second, The Disciple. The Disciple declares, “I am determined to follow Jesus wherever He leads.” Discipleship is about surrender. It’s choosing obedience over comfort and faithfulness over convenience. A disciple doesn’t just admire Jesus—they arrange their life around Him.
3.
Third, The Friend. The Friend says, “I desire to enjoy daily, intimate time with Jesus.” Christianity is not just a mission; it’s also a relationship. Jesus invites us into closeness, prayer, and abiding fellowship. Friends of Jesus walk with Him, talk with Him, and trust Him deeply.
4.
Fourth, The Fisherman. The Fisherman believes, “I aspire to bring others into the kingdom of God.” When Jesus changes your life, you can’t keep it to yourself. This identity is about living on mission—loving people, sharing hope, and pointing others to Christ through both words and actions.
5.
Fifth, The Soldier. The Soldier proclaims, “I aim to stand boldly for Jesus in life’s battles.” Following Jesus means spiritual opposition will come. Soldiers are rooted in truth, clothed in God’s armor, and willing to stand firm when culture pushes back. This is courage fueled by conviction.
6.
Sixth, The Lover. The Lover says, “I long to fully devote my mind, heart, and soul to Jesus.” This is the deepest identity—a wholehearted love for Christ. Not divided, not distracted, but fully surrendered. Love is the fuel that sustains every other identity. Go After Jesus is an invitation to stop living a compartmentalized faith and start living from who you already are in Christ. When these six identities shape your life, following Jesus stops feeling confusing—and starts becoming your greatest joy.
